Popularly known as the S-Class of SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz GLS will launch in India on May 18. The seven seat premium SUV is part of company plans to launch 12 new models in India this year. Based on the GL, the GLS comes forth as an upgraded version. Though the pricing aspect will be known later, we anticipate it to be priced between Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore (Ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The German automaker is expected to offer the GLS with four engine options. GLS550 4Matic with V8 biturbo engine that generates 443bhp of power and 700Nm of torque while the GLS450 4MATIC comes with a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine which generates 357bhp of power and 760Nm of torque. The GLS350d 4MATIC gets a V6 diesel engine that generates 252bhp of power and 617Nm of torque and the top-of-the-range Mercedes-AMG GLS63 generates 569bhp of power and 760Nm of torque.
On the design aspect, the car will sport generous amounts of chrome and a new front. As for the interiors, it will get premium upholstery and a wood finished dashboard panel. The Mercedes-Benz GLS will be loaded with safety features pre-safe system, brake assist, electronic all- wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP, and cruise control.
