YL1 is one of the most anticipated launches for Maruti Suzuki in India. It is likely that the sedan would replace the current generation SX4 as its sales are not satisfactory. Also, with the launch of a new model, Maruti Suzuki would be looking to cash in on the rising demand in mid-size sedan segment. Talking about the engine configuration, the upcoming sedan, YL1, might be offered in two engine engine options, namely 1.4-litre K-Series and 1.3-litre Multijet. Also to mention, reports have suggested that YL1 would be offered in automatic variant as well.

Major changes given in YL1 sedan as compared to SX4 are believed to be at interior packaging. The upcoming sedan of Maruti Suzuki might be offered with premium quality interiors as the cabin may get black and beige leather upholstery along with a wooden insert. In order to place its car at par with same segment rivals, YL1 would have features like Bluetooth connectivity, automatic air-conditioning system with rear vents, height adjustable driver seat and steering mounted audio controls. In case of safety equipment, the car is likely to get Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Reports have suggested that Maruti Suzuki would first take the wraps of YL1 at the 2014 Auto Expo after which its launch shall follow soon in first half of the same year.

Coming to i30, sources have revealed that the model will feature in Hyundai's Indian line-up in 2014. Furthermore, rumours are rife that i30 is a part of the company's strategic plans to overtake Maruti Suzuki in the Indian car market. Insiders have stated that Hyundai would be first showcasing its car at the 2014 Auto Expo while the launch could happen in second quarter of 2014. Till now, it is quite unclear that whether the European specification model would arrive in India or not. However, what seems sure is the availability of two engine options, namely 1.4-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. For transmission, experts are saying that i30 will be provided with an option of either 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic versions.

As Hyundai is known for offering best-in-class features, i30 is no exception to this fact. Considering the European model, the upcoming i30 is certain to get advanced safety functions like Electronic Stability System (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and airbags. Apart from these, standard features like dual-tone interiors, leather seats, audio player with USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth support will also expected to be placed in the model. Coming to its price, analysts are saying that the car could be placed in a bracket of Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh; however nothing is confirmed as of now.
