Country largest automaker Maruti Suzuki created a lot of stir in the automotive market with the AMT technology. The first one to receive it was the Celerio hatchback that was launched last year and soon after the Alto K10 received the fresh upgrade. This time its the popular Alto 800 trim that is likely to come laden with AMT technology. As about now, the company is capable of producing about 4000 units a month that includes Celerio as well as the Alto K10 trims.
Magnetic Marelli, the Italian supplier of AMT technology stated that it indeed plans on ramping up AMT production in India, so this indeed means a faster delivery of AMT trims in the country. Apart from Maruti, the company also supplies vehicles to Tata Motors in the country. Moreover, in near future the company shall start delivering the technology to Hyundai as well. The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 AMT is likely to continue being powered by the existing engine.
Apart from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai has been planning on launching the new i10 and Eon with an AMT transmission. Closely following the trail, Tata Motors has also been planning on launching the new Nano with an AMT transmission.
