The leading automaker in passenger vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki has marked the export of one millionth vehicle on the last day of April, 2012. The one millionth vehicle exported pertains to a red coloured A-Star that was departed from the Mundra coastline to Denmark, where it is sold under Suzuki Alto badge. While in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki Alto and A-Star comprise of two distinct models, the company has introduced A-Star as the seventh generation Suzuki Alto for the European market.

Maruti Suzuki reveals that the A-Star has been increasingly receiving greater response in the overseas market owing to which it has surpassed the exports of Alto and Maruti 800 models with over 3,00,000 units being exported to over 100 countries since 2009.

The European market has always posed as the highly favorable market for the automaker but with the elimination of scrappage incentives, the company tapped its major non EU markets that strongly assisted in retaining its export figures. Earlier, the exports majorly pertained to the European countries, but in the last fiscal year, the exports to non EU nations surged to an impressive 66 percent.

Along with the one millionth vehicle, a fleet of 2200 other models made its way to several overseas destinations including Sweden in Europe, Algeria, Malta, Switzerland, Egypt and Morocco in the non European nations.
