Indian home grown major, Mahindra & Mahindra is upping the ante in the Indian car market. The company that is mainly known for manufacturing formidable utility vehicles has recently launched a upgraded version of its popular SUV Thar. As told by the company, it has fixed a few problems that previously existed in the model. Earlier it was reported from some owners of Thar that the car had aplenty of problems, which the auto maker could not resolve.

As seen in the new model of Thar, the most important upgrade done by the company is the inclusion of a new cross bar that sits in between the A-pillar and B-pillar, which further helps in increasing the rigidity of the vehicle. This upgrade in Thar was desperately needed as the older version's B-pillar used to flex away, which gave way for doors to hit these bumpy bits. Another important advancement seen in the SUV of Mahindra is the removal of auto locking mechanism fitted on its front axle. Instead of it, the company has provided a reliable fixed flange set-up in which front drive-shafts were always engaged.

Mahindra & Mahindra too has upgraded interiors of the vehicle by redesigning the switches of air conditioner, which seem to take cues from Bolero VLX. For the convenience of passengers, the rear seats of Thar have been lowered by around 6 to 7 mm in order in increase the headroom space. Apart from it, improvements are also made for the easy detachment of the roof by the driver. As seen in the older model, the roof of the car was attached through pins that even broke out while removing. Now with the new model of Thar, the pin system has been replaced by four screws, which makes it easier to attach the roof after taking it off.

Besides these changes, a minor one can be seen in the inner door handles, which are now provided of a more durable quality. What seems to be the best part of new version of Thar is the fact that despite these several changes, the Indian car maker has decided to not hike the price of the vehicle.
