      Mahindra sales surge by 18 percent in March 2011

      The country's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra has registered a jump of 18 per cent in its sales in the month of March 2011. The company sold a total of 37,522 units during the month as compared to 31,698 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company registered a sales increase of 9 per cent during the month. Mahindra and Mahindra managed to sell 35,488 units of its vehicles in the country during the month as compared to 29,944 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the passenger vehicle segment, the company registered total sales of 17,320 units in March 2011 as compared to 14,609 units sold in the same month last year, accounting for a sales increase of 19 per cent.

      In a statement given to the reporters on Friday, Mahindra & Mahindra's Chief Executive ( Automotive Division )), Rajesh Jejurikar, said, "It is a matter of pride for us that March 2011 has been a record month for both domestic and export sales in the history of Mahindra. We have closed the financial year 2010-11 with an overall growth of 26 per cent."
