Reportedly, the first electric vehicle of the auto maker, named REVAi was able to find just 4750 buyers since its launch in 2001; however the company is of a view that the “Sales of the e2o will be significantly higher, in multiples.” The newly launched model, Mahindra e2o, represents the vision of Mahindra Group, ‘Future of Mobility’ to offer a sustainable environment to coming generations. Interestingly, the auto maker introduced the model at New Delhi Auto Expo as Reva NXR in January 2012. However, it has been launched as Reva e2o in the Indian auto market.

In order to lure a large number of buyers, the model has been offered in a number of colour options, namely Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Eco Green, Ocean White, Spanish Red and Sunfire Yellow. With an introductory price tag of Rs. 5.9 lakh (on-road, Delhi), this electric vehicle happens to be the first model, which has been assembled at the Mahindra’s recently inaugurated manufacturing unit near Bangalore. Mahindra Reva e2o has been designed on the cutting edge ecoystem of Sun2Car, which facilitates it to derive the power from a 48-volt, 29 kW electric motor. The maximum power churned out by the engine of this car stands at 25 bhp with a highest torque delivery of 53 Nm. It must be noted that along with these power outputs, the auto maker guarantees that e2o offers a running cost of around 50 paisa per km.

Although e2o has a small electric engine, it has a good acceleration and does justice to its top speed with metre clocking at 81 kmph. On this new launch, industry experts are of a view that Mahindra e2o is a good vehicle to drive in the normal city conditions.
