      Mahindra likely to call the S101 as KUV100

      Mahindra is likely to call the S101 as the KUV100, as per a report. The new crossover from Mahindra and Mahindra will be manufactured in the company’s Chakan plant. The S101/KUV100 will be making its way into the Indian car market and will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Both these are new three-cylinder engines and the four-cylinder versions of these engines (both 1.6-litre) are powering the Ssangyong Tivoli. The KUV100 will even get an AMT, this will be developed by Magneti Mirelli and it won’t be using the AMT that the company is using on the TUV300.

      The Mahindra brand is looking at introducing a new crossover and the smallest and most affordable product in this brand. The Mahindra KUV100 has a monocoque chassis and will be competing with the likes of Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai i10. The ground clearance will be higher and hence its a crossover. The Maruti Ignis will be a direct competition to the KUV100.

      The Mahindra KUV100 will be priced between Rs 4-6.5 lakhs and it will come with an in-dash music system, steering mounted audio controls, bluetooth connectivity, daytime running LEDs and a large boot too. The KUV100 will be a five-seater and it will have a ground clearance in excess of 200mm.
