The large number of luxury vehicles owned by the mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy can even make millionaires jealous of his collection. For the past four and a half months, Janardhan’s cars and helicopter are locked up in his garage under police surveillance. The collection is presently under the custody of police since it was taken under the possession of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officials after the baron’s arrest in September, 2011.

Gali Janardhan chooses cars that reflect his flamboyant lifestyle. His collection includes Maserati, Mercedes-Benz limousine, Audi, Rolls Royce Phantom and Toyota Land Cruiser. A Rs. 3 crores Continental GT Coupea, a range of Mitsubishi Pajeros and a Rs. 3 crores Range Rover sports car are also a part of his exquisite fleet.

Janardhan is the owner of a Volvo bus that costs Rs. 5 crores and is called ‘Rukmini’ that was used during his political road shows. He also possesses over 12 Indian built cars that are parked in a specially built area for these cars and has assigned a team to look after these. Although as per the chargesheet registered by the CBI, only Maserati and Rolls Royce have been taken under custody. The Rolls Royce has the registration number KA-34-C-01, of the Bellary Town. His Maserati does not have a registration number and seems to have never been used. The CBI, due to security reasons, cannot bring these models in the Hyderabad court and that is why the cars have been kept under the Bellary police custody, according to the chargesheet.

The CBI officials have also taken 57.89 kg of gold accessories and Rs. 2.49 crores cash from Janardhan’s home under possession. He also owns a Bell 407 helicopter for personal use; however, it has been registered under the Obulapuram Mining Company Private Limited (OMCPL). This was also taken by officials and given to Deccan Charters Ltd. at Jakkur aerodrome in Bengaluru for safe-keeping.
