      Hyundai witnesses 39.5% fall in exports in February

      India’s second largest car maker and leading passenger car exporter, Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) posted monthly sales of 34,005 units in the month of February, 2014. Around 12,500 units were exported to overseas market in February 2014 registering cumulative sales of 46,505 units for the month of February 2014.

      As compared to same period last year, Hyundai Motors India Ltd sold 34,002 units in the domestic market. Exports witnessed a sharp decline of 39.5 per cent with 12,500 units shipped in February as compared to 20,663 units exported in February, 2013. Cumulative sales also fell by 14.9 per cent in February 2014, as compared to the same period last year.

      Commenting on the February sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL said,"Post the reduction in excise duty, enquiry inflow has increased with February sales of 34,005 units with a growth of 2% over the earlier month and it is expected that this would lead towards creation of a positive momentum."

      The company reduced prices of its cars owing to the excise cut announced in the month of February, the revised prices were implemented effective 18thFebruary. The price slash ranges between Rs 10,000 to Rs 1.35 lakh. Hyundai also introduced a new trim, CX to its Verna Fluidic sedan line-up, the petrol version of CX is priced at Rs 8.07 lakh and the diesel variant is available for Rs 9.28 lakh.
