Hyundai’s new generation Elite i20 accounted for almost one fourth of HMIL’s domestic sales in the month of September, 2014. With 8902 units sold last month Elite i20 emerges as a major contributor in HMIL’s domestic sales in September that stood at 35,041. On the export front HMIL shipped 16,430 units totaling to 51,571 units of collective sales last month. The company witnessed 14.5 per cent rise in sales in the month of September while there has been an overall growth of 12.8 per cent in the first half of current year. With the onset of festive season it is expected that HMIL will post even better sales in October. Induction of new models this year including new Hyundai Xcent compact sedan introduced earlier this year and Hyundai’s new generation Elite i20 launched in the month of August helped HMIL to witness growth in monthly sales. Other than these two vehicles, Grand i10 hatchback is yet another volume puller from the stables of HMIL.
Company officials have revealed that this festive season there has been a substantial increase in the first time buyers which is positive change. Things have changed in the last couple of months and it is expected that this festive season will be much better for the automotive industry that had been grappling to come out of stagnancy in buying pattern.
