Hyundai Santro had been the gate-pass for the Korean carmaker in India. The company has recently stopped the production of the popular Santro hatchback as they believe that the vehicle has indeed reached its product life cycle. With 15 years of success behind its back, the Santro hatchback had taken a honored exit for from the country. Apart from the vehicle being a popular choice as a personal vehicle, it has also been serving as commercial taxi in the country. Since the vehicle shall be moving out, another popular trim from Hyundai named i10 shall be replacing Santro to serve as new taxi fleet in the country.

The technical specification shall remain the same as the existing i10 version except for introduction of the popular black color with yellow top combination that is popular in Mumbai. Apart from this city, the taxi trim shall also be offered in other cities like Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. The decision is expected to do well for the brand as about 8,000 taxi-permits are due to expire in next 6 months. To cater to market needs Hyundai shall offer the taxi trim with features like power-steering, AC and CNG fuel alternative.
