      Hyundai Grand i10 diesel automatic could be introduced soon

      Things have been looking bright for South Korean auto maker, Hyundai, in India in recent times, mainly due to the huge success of its Grand i10 model. Launched in the month of September, this model has outclassed rivals and delivered in terms of customer response, reviews of critics and sales. This car has been appreciated for its stylish design, engine efficiency and aggressive pricing. Initially, the Grand i10 did not come with an automatic transmission variant. However, Hyundai brought about a change to this by introducing Grand i10 Automatic, though, only for petrol variants (Sportz and Asta trims). While Sportz trim of automatic version of this hatchback is priced at Rs. 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom), Asta guise comes at Rs. 5.92 lakh. Since then, the demand for an automatic transmission diesel variant has been rising. Sources close to the company claim that the South Korean auto maker will be looking to cater to this demand by launching the same.

      Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing at Hyundai, was present at the launch of Grand i10 Automatic (petrol). Speaking on the occasion, he said, “We have launched the Grand in September this year and it has been extremely well received and due to positive customer feedback the automatic transmission in Grand has been introduced. The Grand automatic transmission further improves our value proposition offering smooth and effortless driving for customers. This will enhance the Modern, Sporty, Trendy and Progressive Styling of Hyundai brand in compact segment.”

      At present, nothing has been confirmed by the auto maker but speculations are rife that the launch might take place soon in the first week of December. Experts have claimed that the introduction Grand i10 automatic in diesel has the potential to perform really well in the Indian market. The trend of automatic cars has been catching up in the Indian market as more people are preferring such models. There are several advantages that one can draw from automatic transmission cars, such as hassle-free driving and ease of handling. Also, industry experts believe such vehicles are ideal for people who are new to driving as they facilitate quick learning.

      The diesel version of Grand i10 has been key in shaping its success in India due to its aggressive pricing and engine efficiency. Currently, diesel version of Grand i10 is powered by a second-generation 1.1-litre U2 CRDi engine that delivers a power level of 69 Nm. This powertrain is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
