Auto makers in the Indian market seem to have adopted a uni-directional approach towards increasing their profit levels. Following the path of several other companies, Tata Motors, one of the India's largest car manufacturers, is gearing up to launch a number of new vehicles in the country. Interestingly, the Mumbai-based automobile firm has not been pretty active in terms of launching new vehicles, unlike its competitors. Some experts feel that this could be one of the reasons for the kind of performance it has witnessed in the recent past, battling with slow demand and economic crisis. In order to change this, the Indian auto maker has decided to launch two products in India by 2014, reports have claimed. The company is planning to bring in a lot of changes to these models, in order to make them look more attractive.

Reports suggest that one of these models would be a hatchback while the other would be a compact sedan. Sources claim that the company has given both these new cars code names and they could make their debut at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. Sources close to this development have suggested that Tata Motors is going to adopt an aggressive pricing strategy for these products. Experts believe that the company has wisely chosen the segmentation of these products, targeting potential growth areas. It is being said that Tata Motors wants to establish itself as a brand that caters to global customers. To facilitate this, the company is going to introduce vehicles that match with international standards in all aspects, performance, driving dynamics, comfort and safety. Reportedly, Tata Motors has taken help from its international technical centres.

Rumours have surfaced in recent times that the company is likely to replace some of its current products with new ones. Commenting on the same, Ranjit Yadav, a top company official, said, “We are not looking to replace any of our current brands. There are opportunities and spaces for us to address. These are high-performance vehicles, with a differentiated feature and new driving dynamics.” It can be safely inferred from all these comments and reports that the firm is looking towards the future with a different vision altogether. Moreover, speculations are rife that the firm has its operations firmly in place for almost six to seven years. Experts have praised Tata Motors for this new approach and feel it is likely to benefit the firm in the long run.

A lot is being said about these new models and what will be included their respective designs. Tata Motors, according to sources, is going to be bringing an entirely new design language, distinguishing these models from others in the firm's existing portfolio. If reports are to believed then it would be after many years that the company would be launching a new hatchback model in India. The non-participation of Tata Motors in introducing new models has been quite surprising as its counterparts have been launching new models, thereby increasing market share. Now, with a new outlook, Tata Motors would be hoping to set things right by delivering products that attract buyers.

Lastly, it is being said that the firm is going capitalise on the rising demand of petrol cars in the country. Currently, a majority of cars sold by Tata Motors fall in the diesel category, statistics and reports have suggested. Analysts feel that the compact sedan from this firm, when launched in India, will face stiff competition from the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire.
