Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the largest car exporter from the Indian auto market, has forecasted a decrease in its overall exports to 2.25 lakh cars in the current year due to the Eurozone crisis. The European markets are major contributors in the overall exports of HMIL to the overseas markets. The car maker has sold 2.47 lakh cars in the overseas market last year. The company currently exports its cars to as many as 115 countries globally from India. At present Hyundai i10 is the flagship exporting model from HMIL’s India portfolio.

Speaking to the reporters in Mumbai on Monday, Hyundai Motor India Director and Board Member (Marketing and Sales),Mr. Arvind Saxena said, "We have been exporting more cars to the west European markets, but now the situation is not good. We may export fewer cars this year."

The company had recently launched its lowest price offering EON in the Indian market in the price range of Rs 2.69 lakh to Rs 3.71 lakh. While the company is dispatching a large number of its other portfolio cars to the overseas markets, the EON will be initially sold only in the domestic market. After matching the high demand of EON in the Indian market, the car maker plans to export the car to the markets like South America and South Africa.
