Innovation and engineering marvel has been synonymous with Honda Motor Co. The much talked about hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle named FCV concept was showcased at Honda's global headquarters in Tokyo by President Takanobu Ito. The vehicle is expected to be launched first in Japan sometime in March 2016 and then shall make it to European and US markets sometime later.

The Hydrogen fuel-cell sedan has fuel-cell powertrain that has been mated with front engine compartment of the vehicle. This pattern allows more efficient cabin space and provides flexibility in the potential application of fuel cell technology that can be used to multiple vehicle models in the future. Significant technological advancements to the fuel-cell stack has reportedly yielded more than 100kW of power output. The power density in FCV has also been increased is now 3.1kW/L, which is about 60 percent increase. Moreover, the stack size is also smaller by 33% as compared to the Honda's FCX Clarity. Refilling the car is quite easy and quick as it only takes about three to five minutes at a pressure of about 70 MPa. Furthermore, the vehicle is capable covering a distance of over 300 miles with every refill session.

Water-emitting green car technology is the new challenge for the auto industry. Honda's FCV is seen as a strong competitor against Toyota's very own Hydrogen powered car. If successfully implemented and developed, this technology could likely be a great long-term alternative to gasoline-powered transportation.
