A seven-seater version of the Honda CR-V has been spotted on test in North America. The extended length is visible at the rear of the crossover which has been camouflaged and has had its windows blacked out. The company had said earlier this year that the next generation of the car would be larger in size and would be launched in 2017.

There is not much information available about the next generation of the car except that it is likely to carry on with the same platform and powertrain options. AWD is expected to be standard across the model. The extended length means it will now sit as a proper seven-seater in Honda’s line up.

However, reports suggest that since Honda is doing so well with the CR-V in the US it is unlikely to offer this version there. It then seems possible that this extended length model will be targeted at other markets in Europe and Asia.

In the Indian context, we are sure to get this version of the CR-V as it is a D-segment SUV and with seven seats will open up the car to larger buying group.
