Contrary to what was expected about the launch of Hero HX250R in November, reports have been received that the bike will now be launched sometime in the beginning of 2015. The HX250R will be the first venture of Hero without the support of Honda and the road testing part is still left. Hero will have to test the bike on road thoroughly under a variety of conditions before launch. It is expected that the spy shots will be revealed at the time of the road testing session.

The specifications of this model have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. The specifications of the production model will definitely, be a close shadow of the actual specs released by Hero. It will be powered by a 250 cc, four valve, liquid-cooled engine, which has an over-square layout. The bike is capable of producing a peak power output of 31 PS at 9000 rpm. The twisting power of the bike is 26 Nm and is quite good in this segment. With a total weight of just 139 kilograms, this bike is based on a trellis frame and offers a good power to weight ratio. We have to wait to know whether the bike will get an ABS option, though there are chances for the same. It is expected that the price range for this bike will be around 1.5 lakhs INR. The bike will face stiff competition from the like of the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS and Honda CBR300R.

This bike has one thing that is first of its kind in India that is an under-seat exhaust. The design for this bike has been done by EBR. This will be a major step for the Indian two-wheeler giant as it moves ahead from its erstwhile partner, Honda.
