      Gujarat's Chief Minister visited by Suzuki Motors Chief for strengthening business

      Suzuki the Japanese wing of Maruti has been a key contributor in the Indian automotive sector. Suzuki with a view to further strengthen the brand's presence locally, Osamu Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corp chief has met Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel last week to discuss its business plans. Suzuki reportedly has been working on setting up a plant in Hansalpur village of Ahmedabad district at an investment cost of about Rs. 4,000 crores. The plant is believed to be operational from May 2017.

      Reportedly the transfer of ownership process has already been done from Maruti Suzuki India to its Japanese wing. Hasmukh Adhiya, State's Additional Chief Secretary Finance, said, “At present, all the technical issues have been sorted out. Concession on VAT is not at all an issue, as we are going to give them concession.”

      Earlier the plant was supposed to be used as Maruti Suzuki's third production plant in the country and the first one to be based outside Haryana. But now with the fresh updates, the plant shall be used as wholly-owned company of Suzuki Motors Corporation as Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt. Ltd. the government has also reportedly reworked on the VAT concession policy for mutual benefits. During the meeting, Gujarat CM Anandi Patel has also invited Suzuki Motors Chief to the upcoming 'Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015' due to be held in January next year.

      Maruti Suzuki
