General Motors marks its presence in the Indian automarket with its brand name Chevrolet for passenger cars. Now the company is set to enter the commercial vehicle market in association with its Chinese counterpart SAIC. GM India will introduce Wuling range of commercial vehicles from China in the Indian market. The complete range of products is expected to be available in the Indian market by end of 2011. General Motors is still contemplating its options to decide the brand name of its commercial vehicle range in India.

According to GM India president and managing director Karl Slym, GM India now has a wider range of products to choose from in the LCV segment due to new ownership of SAIC. IT plans to introduce LCV of one ton capacity by 2012. He also said that the company would be investing at least $50 million to upgrade facilities at Halol (Gujarat).

GM India currently manufactures the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet U-Va, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet SRV, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Captiva at its two state of the art facilities in Halol and Talegaon.
