The decision has come into effect owing to Ford's customer satisfaction ratings in recent time that stated that customers are a little displeased with the touch screen mated on the vehicle's dashboard. Avoiding answers to the question on company's future of its technology relationship with Microsoft, Susannah Wesley, a spokeswoman for Ford, said, “Ford works with a variety of partners and suppliers to develop and continuously improve our in-car connectivity systems for customers. We do not discuss details of our work with others or speculate on future products for competitive reasons.” As per sources, Ford has plans to utilize the QNX software patented by BlackBerry for its fleet of cars on a global level.

The BlackBerry QNX is expected to provide with a base code for automakers, thereby allowing them build a personalized infotainment around it. Some of the common issues faced by the users of the existing MyFord Touch was that it seemed to be a bit too complex, View options were stated to be confusing, the system could not understand voice commands and the screen icons seemed to be a bit too small. Looking at the change from a monetary perspective, the switch from Microsoft to BlackBerry saves up on the cost for Microsoft licensing agreement.

As for now the American car-maker has chosen to remain tight lipped about the developments. Things may further get clear with an official announcement made by company.
