As per reports, the American car maker feels that its EcoSport model could certainly help its segment by recording impressive unit sales, upon its arrival on Indian turf. Evidently, the Ford EcoSport remains one of the most awaited models to be launched in the country and is generating a great deal of buzz in the underground rumour-mill. From the initial spy shots, Ford EcoSport looks like stunning and is being pegged as the next big volume puller for the American auto major in the country.

The upcoming EcoSport compact SUV is anticipated to come fitted with the critically acclaimed Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre diesel powertrain under its hood. The pint-sized EcoBoost engine pumps out an impressive and best-in-class power output of 120 bhp, besides delivering an inspiring fuel economy. Industry sources suggest that the EcoSport could see Indian daylight with introductory price tags close to Rs. 10 lakhs in the Indian auto market.

Expressing his confidence with the arrival of EcoSport compact SUV on domestic turf, Joginder Singh, Managing Director (MD), Ford India, has been quoted as saying, “The compact SUV category has done well even in challenging times, and we are confident that it will help us. We have received some clarification from the Government that models like the EcoSport will not be impacted, though the fine print still needs to be studied. There are certain cut-offs in the criteria, such as ground clearance, and our interpretation is that the EcoSport will not come under this. The Endeavour, however, will be affected.”
