The dealers of leading Indian two-wheeler makers including Honda, Bajaj and TVS are offering various discount offers and freebies to the customers, in a bid to drive in volume sales. Moreover, the companies are also wooing customers through a number of cash benefits and loans at low interest rates.
The Indian auto industry is currently facing a slowdown in sales as increased interest rates and price have made many prospective buyers postpone their plans of buying vehicles. Incidentally, the interest rates on bikes have increased as compared to the same on four-wheelers.
However, the benefits and freebies are mostly coming from the side of dealers as auto makers are still analyzing the situation and are yet to offer any substantial discount scheme. In a recent statement, head of marketing at Bajaj Auto, Milind Bade, said, “We are offering some benefits to reduce our stocks as the market has been slowing with retail sales getting impacting and cautious customers postponing their purchase decisions."
For instance, the Honda Dealers are offering discounts of up to Rs 3,500 in select markets on the CB Twister model, as it is facing a stiff competition from Hero Honda's Splendor that is approximately Rs 8,000 lesser in price. Similarly, the TVS Star City is available with benefits of up to Rs 1500 in select markets.
