Bajaj Auto has a joint venture with Austrian automobile company KTM Power Sports AG. Both the companies plan to introduce performance bikes in India in next two years. Bajaj currently produces Pulsar 220 as an exclusive indigenously designed and produced bike. However, the model currently lacks the brand appeal and the technology to make it to the top brass.
The new performance bike coming to India will lend exclusivity to the brand and it will be in league of international bike makers manufacturing premium quality bikes for the global market. The new product will be priced between Rs. 2.3-2.4 lakh in the European market but the Indian price may differ drastically due to the import duties. The final Indian price will be revealed only upon its launch.
Bajaj-KTM alliance is also working on entry level bikes for the mass market which is currently dominated by 125cc bikes or low capacity engines.
