Bajaj Auto, the leading two-wheeler maker in the Indian auto market, is targeting to sell more than 4 million units of its vehicles in the current financial year, as per a statement given to reporters by Chandrasekar R, Bajaj Auto General Manager (Marketing and Sales).

While elaborating on the current scenario of the industry, Mr. Chandrasekar R said that the impact in the passenger car business was because of the increase in interest rates and fuel price. He added that if a car owner feel the pinch of it, then two-wheelers always come as an option, and that is why there is no impact in the two-wheeler business. He was speaking at the occasion of the launch of new rural market bound Boxer BM150cc motorcycle.

According to him, the ongoing slowdown in the Indian automobile industry is limited to the passenger car industry as two-wheeler market is not affected by it.

The all new Boxer BM150cc has been shelved in the Indian market as ‘Bharat Bike’. The bike has been developed while taking into consideration the basic needs of rural customers. The BM 150cc is claimed to be offering a mileage of 55 to 60 kmpl. It carries a price tag of Rs 43,247 (ex-showroom Chennai),and has been offered in a single color. Currently, the bike is manufactured at the company’s Aurangabad facility and will be later on shifted to Pantnagar in Uttrakhand.
