Audi India, the German premium car maker, has finally launched the much hyped S6 sedan in the domestic auto market amid great buzz. S6 is based on the common A6 sedan and is a performer in the true sense, as it churns out a maximum power of 420 bhp and peak torque of 550 Nm.
Being among the most powerful versions of the 4.0-litre TFSI, the engine of S6 also features various in-house fuel saving technologies, including 'cylinder on demand', a recuperation and a start-stop system. There is a 'cylinder on demand' feature that works under part load by deactivating four of the eight cylinders for a gain in efficiency, which is particularly visible at controlled highway speeds.
Active Noise Cancellation system is among the set of acoustic measures that eliminates intrusive noise and vibrations, which develops as a result of using only four cylinders. Unlike the S8, the S6 comes fitted with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission system. Additionally, the S6 also comes with Quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a self locking centre. There is also an optional sport differential that actively transfers power between the rear wheels. Wheels equipped within the model are 19 x 8.5-inch cast aluminium wheels with a unique five-spoke design, wrapped in 255/40/R20 tyres.
In order to keep the body of the S8 light-weighted, the company used good amount of aluminium to shed around 200 pound. However, this is not the case with regard to S6 in which the total weight is 4,177 pound for the sedan, which according to Audi is good enough when compared to other competitors within this segment. The S6 comes with really high-quality luxury materials throughout, which features a sporty elegance. Leather is to be found at most possible places, not to mention the steering wheel. Aluminium made accentuations are plentiful, including on the paddle shifters, peddles and instruments. Possible colours in which S6 is made available are Estoril Blue, Crystal Effect and Prism Silver.
When it comes to technology, S6 Sedan is loaded with impressive features, starting with xenon plus headlights with an all-weather light, LED rear lights, an electromechanical parking brake and the driver information system with coloured display. The MMI radio comes with a Bluetooth interface, while the car's standard Audi sound system offers 10 speakers, among others.
