Audi, the German luxury carmaker has, of late, planned an aggressive drive to launch additions to its product line and expand its dealership network across India, particularly in small towns and cities. As a result, an intensive recruitment drive has started-off, which aims to take in around 600 employees over the period of next two years.

Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, confirmed about the expansion drive saying that “We at Audi India have adopted an aggressive expansion strategy for the year 2011 with the launch of class-defining models and strengthening of our dealer network not only in metros, but also in tier II & tier III cities of India. We strongly believe that a competent workforce that exhibits and fosters Audi’s brand values of being progressive, sporty and sophisticated, is one of the major contributors to profitable growth and will soon help us achieve the leadership position in the luxury car segment in India. This move is also a reiteration of our commitment to be a part of the India growth story.”

At present, Audi India boasts of luxury cars like Audi A4, Audi Q5, Audi A8 L et al. The company continues to strengthen its product line as it recently announced the production of the all new Audi A6 in Aurangabad. Currently, Audi India has a work force of 200 personnel that works on the Audi production lines and the company desires to swell its employee strength by almost 100 percent.

Audi India recently inaugurated a brand new showroom in Ludhiana. The initial months of 2011 too witnessed the opening of Audi showrooms in Chennai and Delhi. Apart from these achievements, the further growth in the expansion process includes opening of showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai South and Surat.

Talking about the product line, Audi India has launched a fleet of exemplary models this year, beginning with super sports cars, Audi R8 V10 and Audi R8 Spyder, the design masterpiece Audi A7 Sportback and the quality performer coupe, Audi RS5. The soon-to-be launched Audi A6 is expected to strengthen Audi’s position, all the more, in India.

Audi is not just a celebrated premium car brand, but overpowers every other brand to stand first in Europe and China. The leading luxury carmaker is currently the most rapidly growing luxury car brand in USA and India. While China has elevated to the highest spot by becoming the biggest market for Audi, the brand is working on the process of bringing the explicit strategies from China to the Indian market. These comprise of the product offensive, qualitative network growth and strong brand building process.

Audi India registered an astounding and impressive 100 percent growth from January to June 2011, by achieving a sales figure of 2802 cars that exceeds the previous year sales by 1402 cars. If the month of June is taken into consideration, this year the company sold 408 cars, which marks a  growth of 75 percent over the same period last year.

Thus, the plans and the commitments which are being made for India would surely boost up the morale of the Indian car market, which is currently subjugated by the menace of low car sales.
