      Atul Auto to set up production facility in Sri Lanka

      Atul Auto, the Rajkot-based three-wheeler manufacturing company, is set to establish a manufacturing facility in near the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, according to a company official. The company is on the process of seeking permissions from the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka. Soon after the company will roll out three-wheelers equipped with spark-ignition engines using gasoline, CNG or LPG. As in India, these vehicles will be utilised for intra-city passenger commutation and cargo transportation.

      Niraj Chandra, Director of Atul Auto said, "The three-wheeler market in Sri Lanka is vibrant and there is a growing domestic segment too, we can see potential for development in three wheeler sector and we have confidence on our products and their performance. Moreover, we aim to set up a manufacturing plant here where the experts from technical team of the Company will supervise the manufacturing work of the vehicles at the plant. Setting up the plant there will help us to combat the import duty hike."

      Atul Auto is listed on BSE and in India, it has a manufacturing facility in the Rajkot district in Gujarat. The vehicles produced are mainly used for carrying passengers or luggage/load. These vehicles have great industrial usage and they are customised for transportation of poultry, soft drink, tipper, mobile shop and water, among various things. Passenger carriers are designed in such a way that they exude optimum comfort and are able to accommodate a large number of people. There are two brand names under which Atul manufactures, sells and exports three-wheelers, namely Atul Gem and Atul Shakti. Atul vehicles are seen all over the country on Indian roads with more than 250,000 doing the rounds. The company has a widespread dealer's network which is operating in 16 states. In addition, there are few export destinations among which the latest addition is Sri Lanka.
