Aston Martin, the legendary British car maker, is all set to mark its debut in the Indian market on 15th April 2011. The Aston Martin was a part of Ford Motor Co. till year 2007, after which it was sold to a joint venture company co-owned by businessmen John Sinders and David Richards and Adeem Investment and Investment Dar of Kuwait for $848 million.
The company will be launching its operations in a ceremony at the Nariman Point in Mumbai. The British firm has selected Performance car, a division of infinity Cars Pvt. Ltd., as the sole distributor of the Aston Martin cars in the country.
Initialy, the Aston Martin is expected to launch its Rapide model in the country which will be sporting a 6000 cc V12 engine. The powerful engine of Rapide model is capable of generating a peak power of 496bhp @ 6000rpm along with a Maximum torque of 612Nm at 5000 rpm and comes coupled with a Touchtronic 2 six-speed transmission. The car takes just 5.2 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 kmph. The top speed of the Rapide model is 296 kmph. The Rapide model is expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs 2,60,00,000.
The other models that are expected to be added in the company’s India portfolio include DBS, the DB9 and the Vantage. All of the cars will be imported to the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU) as per the bookings received from the customers.
