The third generation of Hyundai Verna is expected to arrive soon and camouflaged test mules of the car have been spotted. Although heavily camouflaged, the little that was revealed in the images is enough to give us a brief idea of what the vehicle could look like when launched.
The images of the front reveal long awaited LED daytime running lights embedded into its headlamp assembly. The new car also gets a chrome accentuated grille which peeks out of its mask. The side silhouette is expected to be similar to the current model although the addition of some styling lines and sharp creases are expected as a part of the cosmetic upgrade. An addition of new five spoke sporty alloy wheel is evident as the spied images suggest. The spy shots from the rear reveal that the new Verna does not house the same wraparound tail lamp assembly and the new car will get the same sharp full LED tail lamp as its older siblings – Hyundai Creta, Elantra and the Tuscon.
The test mule was painted in ‘marine blue’ leading us to believe that the new Verna will acquire a new set of paint schemes. It was nearly impossible to make out any changes to the interior of the car underneath all that camouflage. However, addition of a few premium features are anticipated.
There will be no changes to the powertrain. The next generation Verna will be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol engine used by the current model, producing 121bhp and a 1.6-litre diesel engine capable of producing 126bhp.
The new generation vehicle is expected to make a debut early next year in the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. When launched, the new Hyundai Verna will continue to give competition to Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
