American car manufacturer Ford claims that the 2018 Mustang GT will be its quickest Mustang GT to date. This time around, the new model gets more than a regular midcycle update in terms of performance and feature upgrades. Along with the line lock feature and a new styling pack, Ford claims that the new model can sprint from 0 - 100kmph in less than 4 seconds.
Mechanically, the 2018 Ford Mustang GT is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine that generates 454bhp of power and 569Nm of torque. The upgraded engine comes mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission and new electronic drag mode. The car manufacturer claims that the new transmission offers quicker shifts and better low-speed response in comparison to the outgoing six-speed automatic.
Ford has chosen to be tightlipped about the prices and fuel efficiency figures for now and it will be known at the time of its launch in next few months. Based on Ford’s claim that the 2018 Mustang GT is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in less than 4-seconds, it might well outdo the V8 Chevrolet Camaro SS that does a 0-100kmph in 4-seconds flat.
