The Swedish luxury carmaker, Volvo is all set to launch the V40 hatchback in India tomorrow. Unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the V40 is one of the first cars to feature Volvo’s updated design language, combined with various advanced technologies and safety features.

The Volvo V40 will share a resemblance with the Cross Country crossover. It features daytime running LEDs, vertical-slat grille with signature ‘Volvo’ badge, revised lower fascia and vertical taillight stack, similar to its hatchback-based crossover sibling. Though, it lacks body cladding, and sits lower to the ground. Talking about its interior, the India-bound model might receive a few interior trim and customization options.

Coming to the engine, the Volvo V40 will feature a new Drive-E, four-cylinder engine lineup - a D3 twin turbo diesel and T4 turbo petrol. These are the same engines that power the existing V40 Cross Country. The former produces a maximum power of 190PS with 400Nm. Transmission on offer could be a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed Aisin automatic.

Volvo will bring the V40 hatchback via CBU (completely break-down unit) route, and then assemble it at its local plant. Upon its launch, the 2015 Volvo V40 will compete against the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series in India. It is expected to be priced within the price bracket of Rs. 25 lakh – Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
