Ford will bring next generation Endeavour in India by next year. The SUV will also be made available in various ASEAN markets. Development work on new Endeavour is being carried out at Ford’s research unit located in Australia. Sources working closely with Ford reveal that the Endeavour facelift has now reached final development stage.
As for the Indian market, Endeavour’s refreshed version is expected to be launched late next year. The SUV will be pitted against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in its segment. Ford has bestowed new Endeavour with its new Ford Edge design philosophy.
Traces of similarities can be seen in 2015 Endeavour and Everest concept. A part of Ford’s new design philosophy the SUV gets a hexagonal front grille in the front. Sculpted design further enhances the outer appearance of the vehicle. For improved off-road capability and ruggedness the new Endeavour comes equipped with frame chassis. Contrary to the current version that is fitted with leaf spring rear suspension layout, 2015 Endeavour houses an independent rear suspension setup. This in turn improves drivability of the SUV.
The SUV is also likely to come fitted with Terrain Response four wheel drive system. Power is expected to come from 2.2 litre and a 3.0 litre, four cylinder diesel mills. Lower variants are likely to be synchronized to five-speed manual gearbox while the high end trims are expected to be equipped with automatic transmission. Ford Endeavour facelift will be introduced as a completely knocked down unit, assembling will be done locally at the company’s manufacturing unit located in Chennai.
