      2014 Kawasaki Z1000 likely to be priced around Rs.12 lakhs

      The all-new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000, that made its international debut earlier this month, is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2013. According to sources, pre-bookings for Z1000 have already kicked-off and it can be booked for an amount of Rs. 5 lakh. As suggested by the distributors of the Kawasaki bikes in India, Z1000 would cost around Rs. 12.5 lakh. Talking about design of this bike, a company official was quoted as saying, “The 'it' factor is hard to describe, but you always know it when you see it. Likewise, the new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 has a hard-to-define 'street-fighter' style that is impactful enough to ensure everyone knows they’re seeing something special.”

      This 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 made first world appearance at the 2013 International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA 2013) held in Milan last week. It boasts of the new ‘Sugomi’ design language of the enterprise, which lends a much more rugged look than its earlier models. With such an aggressive and attractive appearance, this splendid bike is likely to attract youngsters in particular. The Z1000 has been upgraded to deliver enhanced performance levels, in order to maintain a perfect concordance with its sturdy looking bodywork. Industry experts believe that bike enthusiasts can certainly expect a mind-blowing performance from this high-end motorcycle.

      Speaking of the engine configuration of the Z1000, it shall retain the same frame as the prototype. This bike is powered by a 1043 cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which akin to the powertrain fitted in the new Ninja 1000. The engine integrated in the 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is tuned to churn out a maximum power of 140 bhp at 10000 rpm and produces peak torque of 110 Nm at 7,300rpm. Also, Z1000 features additional airbox vents and new cylinder connecting passageways that facilitate better mid and high-end performance. The tweaked ECU along with an updated cool air intake system routes fresh air to the airbox via extra ducts at the front of bike with a new non-woven air filter element offering better flow at high-RPM.

      The new bike comes with a fully adjustable 41 mm inverted Separate Function Fork–Big Piston (SFF-BP) front forks and an adjustable horizontal back-link monoshock at its rear end. For braking, Kawasaki has given a 310 mm twin petal discs at the front, while for the rear a 250 mm single petal disc is provided. In comparison to its previous line-up, this 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 motorbike weighs 2.72 kg more, mainly due to its fuel tank that is larger by 1.51-litre at 17-litre. In addition, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is offered as standard on the new Z1000, while this feature was optional in the earlier model.

      It is important to note here that 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is presently priced at USD 11999 in the American market that converts to Rs. 7.58 lakh. Considering the fact that the new Z1000 will be a Completely Built Unit root (CBU), import duties are expected to be slightly high. According to the dealer level sources, the bike may show up in Indian showrooms by year end. However, deliveries for pre-bookings are anticipated to take place in early January next year.
