Volvo, the legendary German car maker, has earned a repo for introducing a number of revolutionary concepts with its latest product – the XC90. Along with the new 4-pot plug-in hybrid power train and a scalable platform, there is one more feature left out by most critics – the Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system. Sensus offers some unique feature that are yet to appear in any of its contemporaries, its synchronization ability with smartphones and tablets is one thing that gives a straight over all its competitors. It is one of the most advanced automobile technologies in cars and has crossed a big obstacle that was yet considered as a limitation in other infotainment systems.

Volvo engineer have struck the right chord in terms of success benchmarks with this infotainment system. The research for this one commenced in year 2008. The most impressive thing about Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system is that it is not a copy. The fact is clarified through its vertical oriented main interface which is divided into four parts: the navigation, current active system app, phone controls, and audio. Climate controls can be easily accessed via the bottom part of screen anytime.

There are small tabs that offer basic controls like the ability to skip or pause tracks. You can easily access other extensive options by clicking over tabs that expands in one click. Additional options can be accessed by swiping right or left. The most beautiful thing about Volvo Sensus infotainment system is that all critical functions are just one command away. The ability to swipe on right and left simplifies the need of overlapped menus and makes operations simpler than other systems. Even if you get lost, the bottom offers a small iPad kind of home button that can take you back to the base.

The perks offered by this system are completely ahead of systems offered in all other new cars where screen is taken over by active apps over iPhone or iPad. The concept works much better over smart phones and tablets.  The system contains much more processing power than an iPad. Its response is much more immediate than all other infotainment systems offered by other luxury brands. The touch screen from Alpine is a master piece that employs infrared lasers in place of capacitive tactile sensors. The main benefit of this is that even a person wearing gloves can operate the system without any difficulty.
