      Volvo Adds More Models in Its Product Line

      Volvo Car India has planned to add more models to its product line. It plans to introduce six new models in phases with more dealerships across the nation. It has already initiated talks with more than 80 candidates who had applied for dealerships in eight cities.

      Volvo already has existing dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi and Chandigarh and plans to open new dealerships in 8 cities of India – Jaipur, Kolkata, Kochi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Chennai. It plans to invest about Rs 80 lakh in India for land, buildings, showrooms and service centers all across the major cities in India.

      According to Mr. Paul De Voijos, MD, Volvo Car India, Volvo would prefer to give dealerships to those who have land or showrooms at prime locations.

      Volvo plans to launch six models in India – V50 and V70 station wagons, C30 3 door coupe, C70 2 door coupe, XC70 and XC70 crossovers. It has already sold 100 cars in the last year and plans to sell 500 cars this year. By 2009, Volvo plans to have 14 dealerships and plans to bring its cars as CBUs. It is also contemplating about assembling its own cars after assessing the market in India.

      Volvo
