India's largest Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), recently launched a revamped version of its only sedan Verito, which was once marketed as Mahindra Renault Logan. Mahindra in its portfolio also contains an Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Reva Electric, which is well-known for developing small electrically powered cars. Keeping this in mind, the company has now decided to expand the portfolio of Reva electric and introduce an electric sedan version of Verito two years down the line.

As reported by HT, the yet-to-be launched model will have a lithium-ion battery pack, which is already shared in the models like Reva-i and Reva NXR. Earlier, Verito sedan was offered in petrol as well as diesel guise, wherein petrol model was assimilated with a 1.4 litre motor, while the diesel variant was incorporated with 1.5 litre engine. Along with this model, the company is also planning to develop an electric pick-up.

As reported earlier by cartrade.com, M&M is working in a full swing to capture the large market share of the Indian auto industry by adding some of the new electric vehicles in its product portfolio. The Indian buyers focus mainly on the fuel economy of the vehicle, as running cost matters for them a lot, and therefore the move by M&M will surely help it to generate some considerable liking for itself.
