Triumph has been emerging as popular brand in luxury bike segment in India. The British bikemaker had recently faced a lot of criticism over exaggerating the power output of the Street Triple roadster sold by them in India. As reported earlier, the bikes sold in India were nearly underpowered by about 25% in comparison to the ones that were sold in the international market.

Clarifying the air over the incident, Vimal Sumbly, Managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India told HT, “It is an error of communication and we should not have used the EU specifications on our website. We are doing our best to reach out to each of our Street Triple customers. We will try and understand their grievances and take care of each of the issues. We have been transparent in our approach and Triumph is the only super bike company that gives out detailed specifications of its bikes in India.”

The company has agreed that they have indeed tweak the bikes sold in India to make it compliant to ARAI norms. As seen earlier the official specification on the Indian website stated that Street Triple roadster stated delivers 106 PS power as the ones that are sold in the European market, but later reports emerged showing that the bike was indeed underpowered and delivered about 79 PS of power.
