There is bad news for those people who were waiting for 250 cc motorcycles from the renowned British manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles. Citing strategic reasons, the company has declared that it is not able to launch 250 cc motorcycles in India, at least for the time being. As declared by Paul Stroud, who is the Director of Sales and Marketing, said in a statement that the company is focussing to become a premium motorcycle manufacturer.
Triumph Motorcycles Limited, the largest British motorcycle brand, had previously declared that it will be ready to launch a fully-faired and naked version by 2015. There were also some releases and sketches of the faired motorcycles in 2013. Some tests were also performed in Europe. However, the company has stopped the standard processes, as of now.
Paul Stroud said in a statement, “Following a review we have placed the 250cc bike project on hold for strategic reasons relating to its specific segment. Through our expanding market presence and model offer we will continue to evolve our product range to reinforce our position as a premium motorcycle manufacturer and answer the requirements and demands of a global motorcycle audience with exciting and innovative products.”
The faired version of the brand was set to look like the popular Daytona 675, while the naked motorcycle had a strong resemblance with the Street Triple. The bikes were supposed to be manufactured in India, at the production facility of the company in Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh. This would have been the first entry of the brand in the quarter-litre segment. India would have hugely benefited from the models, as the scope is wider for this segment. However, with the suspension of the process, the Indian fans would have to turn to other brands for the time being.
