Toyota Motor in Thailand has launched the TRD Sportivo version of its new Fortuner. While the 2WD version of the Fortuner TRD Sportivo costs between
1679000 and 1699000 baht (Rs 32.01 lakh to Rs 32.39 lakh), the 4WD ranges from 1749000 to 1769000 baht (Rs 33.35 lakh to Rs 33.73 lakh).
Toyota has adorned the exteriors of the Fortuner TRD Sportivo versions with a black colour for the grille, roof, pillars and alloy wheels. Exquisite detailing has been rendered to this model, especially in the way the TRD logo is etched on to the stainless steel exhaust pipe.A quick look at the interiors reveal the sporty looking dual tone colours in red and black that is also used on the leather seats.
Other changes include a redesigned instrument panel with the TRD logo, a touch screen unit that houses a T-Connect infotainment system, navigation and a DVD player. There are no changes mechanically, and the 2.8-litre diesel mill that produces 177bhp has been retained with the same six-speed automatic transmission. Nevertheless, the TRD Sportivo versions will be equipped with a stiffer suspension and disc brakes will be standard all around.
Toyota India operations is expected to bring the new Fortuner to India in 2017, and in all likelihood, these TRD Sportivo versions will also be introduced here.
