Peugeot Citroen is shying away from the developed market and is keenly looking at markets such as India. The company is expected to debut in the domestic market by 2013-14 with a small car and a sedan model.

Peugeot-Citroen is reportedly in talks with the Tamil Nadu government to setup a plant in Chennai and soon the French auto major’s plans would be finalized. The company is also looking to manufacture these cost-effective cars for export purposes, either in India, Thailand, China, Japan or Latin America.

The sedan model from Peugeot has been dubbed as M3-M4 which will be an entry level sedan and will compete in the price segment of Logan. Peugeot holds expertise in diesel engines with small displacement which will enable it to get a strong foothold in the Indian market as diesel models are always in demand in the Indian car market.
