Our spy photographers caught Aston Martin’s next Vantage testing on the roads of Germany in wet weather conditions. Aston is expected to showcase this new iteration at a motor show later this year.

Despite being draped in swirly camouflage, the fresh design cues of the new car look strikingly similar to the DB10 from James Bond’s ‘Spectre’. What makes the Vantage’s small proportions look unmistakeably sporty is the sleek profile section, and the tight rear overhang.

Reports suggest that Aston Martin’s latest R&D in aluminium-rich construction will ultimately be put to the task in this model to bump up torsional rigidity, and reduce weight significantly. With these and many more technological advances, the new Vantage is slated to be quicker and more efficient than the outgoing model.

Under the hood will be an AMG sourced bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine with an output of close to 500bhp (about 70bhp more than existing model). The loss in weight coupled with the increase in power output will essentially mean that the new Vantage will be quicker from nought to 100kmph than its predecessor. Aston may also look to expand the range by adding a V12 model to the line-up at a later time.
