      The Indian arm of Mercedes-Benz, the German auto marque, is going to unveil its spanking new B-Class Sports Tourer in the Indian car market on September 18, 2012. The car aficionados of the country are in for a delight, as the soon-to-be launched vehicle will fetch a sub-Rs. 25 lacs price tag, making it the most economical 'Three pointed star' available in the country. The B-Class car has set the market and media abuzz with slated its launch and the company's marketing campaign thrived using the social media, which proved a genuine mass puller.

      The 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Sports Tourer will be available in two models in the country, base model will be priced less than Rs. 22 lacs while the top-end variant will cost around Rs. 25 lacs. The latest addition to the German auto maker's fleet is pitched against the likes of BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in the Indian car market, which are currently available between Rs. 25-35 lacs price bracket.

      Mercedes-Benz India is targeting the higher clientele among the younger audience of the country, and has projected the B-Class Sports Tourer to comprise 40-50 per cent of the company's total sales in five to six years. Reportedly, most of the luxury auto makers operating in the country are expecting their economically priced models to fare better against their ritzy expensive range, which is expected to swell by 5 to 10 per cent.

      Expressing his delight with the soon to be launched B-Class vehicle, Peter Honegg, Managing Director (MD) and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “The B-Class marks the start of a new innings for Mercedes-Benz India. This is the first of Mercedes-Benz's compact cars and will be followed up by the A-Class next year. We have other models also in pipeline over the next few years.”

      The 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class is the country's first Sports Tourer and currently has no vehicles in its direct competition. The car appears like a big hatchback and features all the futuristic trimmings compliant with the Mercedes-Benz brand and with its impressive price tag, it appears certain to win over the Indian masses. The interiors of the cars are plush as usual and the capaciousness of the interior cabin is the car's strong suit. The B-Class is anticipated as a huge crowd puller and is carrying the baton of re-establishing Mercedes-Benz's domination in the Indian market.

      Mercedes-Benz India has claimed that they have received some 3,000 pre-bookings of the B-Class vehicle and the company is revved up to start the deliveries, once the car is officially launched. Underlining the popularity of the B-Class Sports Tourer, Honegg said, “Mercedes-Benz was successful in harnessing the response for the B-Class from customers and the car's initial allotment is already sold out.”
