Mercedes-Benz showcased the S 560e plug-in hybrid at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The newest member in the 2018 S-Class family gets the third generation hybrid unit at its core. The German premium car manufacturer claims that the vehicle is capable of covering a distance of 50 kilometres purely on electric power. Moreover, the power output from the lithium-ion battery pack has been increased to 13.5kWh over the previous 8.7kWh, while retaining the size.
Mechanically, the vehicle gets a 362bhp producing V6 spark-ignition engine, which in combination with an electric motor generates 480bhp of power.
Based on what can be seen, the Mercedes-Benz S 560e gets the traditional S-Class face with a large grille bearing three horizontal chrome slats.
The car gets a three spoke flat bottom steering wheel for the sporty quotient along with premium leather upholstery. It also gets a large head-up display and infotainment system.
Interestingly, the vehicle also gets ‘Intelligent operating system with Eco Assist’. This technology gives out driving recommendations and efficiency strategy based on route profile, speed limits and distance from vehicles ahead.
The Mercedes-Benz S560e gets a sloping roofline and large LED tail lamps that gives it the traditional S-Class charm.
