      Mercedes-Benz contracts with Valmet Automotive for A-Class production assistance

      Mercedes-Benz, the German based multinational division of Daimler AG automotive corporation has inked an agreement with Finnish Supplier Valmet Automotive for extending production assistance led by the flooding demand for the much awaited model, A-Class hatchback. The premium A-Class supermini has already clocked a whopping 40,000 plus bookings ahead of the launch scheduled in the mid of September this year.

      Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Management, Daimler AG, quoted, "Our new compacts are so popular with our customers that the Rastatt and Kecskemét plants are completely utilized. We thus signed Valmet as an experienced production specialist who will provide us with additional A-Class capacities as of 2013."

      As per the contract, Valmet Automotive will be dedicated towards producing more than 1 lakh units for Daimler commencing from 2013 through 2016.

      Dr. Bernhard further cited that owing to full utilisation of the available production facilities, the automaker deliberated to bank upon Valmet Automotive, a veteran production specialist. The association will help Mercedes-Benz realise its mission of ensuring prompt attention to customers’ preference and assure curtailed waiting periods.

      The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class portrays a unique compactness unmatched in the segment with premium styling cues backed by exceptional engine performance and high fuel efficiency ratings. The automaker has prioritised safety with the installation of modern safety attribute, Collision Prevention Assist System among others. For the German auto market, the new A-Class will be shelved from $29,068.
