For the second time now, Mercedes-Benz was spotted testing its upcoming super sedan, expected to be called the AMG GT4. However, this time it was not on a racetrack, but on country lanes in Germany.

As seen in the previous set of spy shots, the AMG GT4 gets a full-LED projector unit. The silhouette displays the sedan proportions and the large wheel arches which house the five spoke alloy wheels. The spied test mule we spotted was no different. Behind the alloy wheels are the painted beefy brake callipers are characteristic of the AMG badge worn by this sedan. The GT4 gets a sharp full LED tail lamp unit and a diffuser with quad exhaust tips to enhance its sporty design.

The engine is expected to be aided by a hybrid KERS (Kinetic energy recovery system) borrowed by Mercedes-AMG Formula-One cars. The engine will charge the battery pack of the GT4 only if regenerative braking is not able to top-up the juice in them. The total output with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and the electric motor combined is expected to be 805bhp. All the horses are expected to be delivered to the wheels by Mercedes’s ‘4matic’ all-wheel drive system.

AMG christened the hybrid tech as ‘EQ Power+’ which has also been lifted from their F1 cars and this label will be put on all the performance hybrids made by the manufacturer.

Once launched, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will compete against the Aston Martin Rapid S and the Porsche Panamera S.
