To mark its full-fledged comeback after a series of issues erupted from the labour unrest at its Manesar facility, the country’s pioneering automaker; Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will be introducing the much awaited Alto 800 small car in the month of October this year. In its endeavour to offset the subsequent losses suffered recently, the company will be rolling out this new model with a CNG option as well amidst the festive season to fuel up the rivalry mushroomed in the segment.

The all new Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is geared up to replace the existing Alto, which has witnessed declining sales growth of 34.83 per cent during the period April-August with sales dipping from 1.22 lakh units in a year ago period to 89,000 units. At present, the market stake of the company has plunged down below 40% in the passenger car segment in India.

While speaking about the current market scenario cornered with mounting fuel prices and interest rates, Mr. Manohar Bhat, Vice-President – Marketing, MSIL, said, "It is a very difficult market now. It is in a bit of flux now and with the Alto 800, we hope there would be excitement and it will reignite the market."

With the launch of Alto in 2001, a respite came to price conscious Indian buyers in the form of cheap alternative of conveyance and till date the sales of the model has tallied to around 20 lakh units in the domestic market and 2.47 lakh units exported.

Featuring 15 percent higher fuel efficiency of 22.74 kmpl, the Alto 800 is set to woo the Indian buyers with trendy design, enhanced interiors and upgraded gear shift.
