      Manchester United players presented with Chevrolet models

      As part of an endorsement deal, players and staff of Manchester United FC, one of the world's most popular and decorated football clubs, recently received keys to their new Chevrolet vehicles. As per reports, the American car maker- Chevrolet became official car sponsor of the British football club Manchester United in 2012, with a seven-year long contract being signed between the two parties. General Motors' subsidiary presented its Volt electric, Captiva, Camaro and Corvette models to the players and management staff of the prestigious club.

      Oliver Gavin, the Corvette Racing driver, offered driving tips and handed over the keys of new Chevy cars to the Manchester United players at the official ceremony. The Chevrolet models were chosen by the football players themselves, according to their vehicular needs and liking. Present at the ceremony were many Manchester United's first team members, including the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Javier Chicarito Hernandez, Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick, youth player- Sam Johnstone, along with this season's new signings- Alex Buttner and Nick Powell.

      Expressing his delight on Chevy models being accorded to Manchester United Players and staff, Alan Batey, Vice President, Sales, Service and Global Marketing, General Motors, was quoted as saying, “Our Chevrolet portfolio has given the Manchester staff and players a wide choice to suit their lifestyle, be it a Captiva, the extended range electric Volt or the iconic Camaro and Corvette. It is great to see that Manchester United is now in the driving seat, both in terms of the league and our cars.”

      As per reports, the current in red-hot form central striker, affectionately called 'The Dutchman' Robin Van Persie opted for the Chevrolet Captiva premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), saying that it looked an obvious choice for him, since he is a family man. Van Persie said, “I have two children, so this car is really good for me – it’s a family car. It looks very nice, it’s a good car.” Further, Wayne Rooney, the star centre forward Manchester United player with the No. 10 jersey, chose a Camaro Convertible muscle sports car and said, “It’s great, it obviously looks great and I’m excited to drive it. I think when I saw them all together this was the one that suited me best, it looks nice and will drive well too. I chose a manual as I think it’s great to get full use from a sports car.”

      Van Persie's Dutch national compatriot and left full back – Alex Buttner went for the Chevy Captiva, while youngsters Nick Powell and Sam Johnstone opted for the Chevrolet Volt electric model. Further, Patrice Evra, the veteran Manchester United left full back chose a Camaro Coupe, visibly delighted he said, “I like the shape of the car, it’s fantastic. I just had my first drive and I was really surprised, it drives well and you can feel it’s really powerful, I’m very happy.” Javier Hernandez, the prolific Mexican goal scorer, picked the Corvette Grand Sport supercar, was quoted as saying, “I looked at the Camaro and the Corvette, but this is not too big, like me, we are quite similar! It’s a very good car and I am very happy Chevrolet offered this to me.”
