Mahindra and Mahindra has started testing the four-door variant of the e2o hatchback on public roads. A camouflaged test mule was sighted taking rounds on the Bangalore-Hosur highway.
The e2o currently on sale is a two-door version though it gets enough space to occupy four people. The new four-door version of the e2o will add to the practicality by making it easier for the rear passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. The test mule in a disguised avatar didn't reveal much about the changes, but the car seems to get restyled tail lamps positioned at a higher level.
The e2o is a two-door, four-seater compact hatchback sold as a fully electric vehicle in the Indian market. With the updated version, the e2o might get a power bump, higher top speed and a longer range; meaning an enhanced battery life as well. The current version is powered by an electric motor that produces 26bhp of power and 54Nm of torque and does about 100kms on a full charge.
The e2o is a practical car, offers zero emissions and takes up less space on the roads. Sadly, electric cars do not have a great demand in our Indian car market as of yet and the e20 also doesn’t have a good demand. Nevertheless, the upcoming updated version of the hatchback, coupled with the incentives under the Fame initiative, should make it a good deal for prospective buyers.
