Sameer Gaur, MD & CEO, Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI), for the second time in a row won the “BEST F1 RACE PROMOTER” award. Gaur won this prestigious award at the 2012 Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Prize Giving Gala held in Istanbul, Turkey on Dec 7, 2012. The FIA award highlights the hard work done by JPSI in making India a proud host of Formula One with one of the world's best F1 tracks, Buddh International Circuit (BIC).

The FIA Prize Giving Gala is held every year to felicitate all those who make outstanding contribution to promote motorsports all over the world. The Buddh International Circuit and Sameer Gaur had been the recipient of more than a dozen national and international awards in 2011 as well.

Sameer Gaur, Managing Director and CEO of Jaypee Sports International, on winning the award for the second consecutive year said, “This is indeed a very proud moment and I am honoured to receive this FIA award for the second time on behalf of my entire team and the country, whose support and enthusiasm was responsible for us to win this award again. This award will motivate us to host a grandeur F1 Indian Grand Prix next year and we would hopefully be able to complete a hat-trick of the award.”

Farhan Vohra, who is in-charge of race operations at the Buddh International Circuit, was also felicitated by the FIA and was named as the ‘Best Clerk of the Course’ for 2012. Holding the position of Clerk of the Course (COC), Vohra was responsible for managing race operations at the BIC during the first two seasons of the Formula One Indian Grand Prix. Vohra had earlier even served as a steward at the Singapore Germany and Abu Dhabi F1 races. He is the only Indian to be accredited by the FIA to be the Clerk and the Steward at an F1 race.

Farhan Vohra, on being awarded as the ‘Best Clerk of the Course’ said, “I am honoured with this recognition, which could not have been possible without the efforts of entire JPSI team that helped ensure a smooth Indian Grand Prix for the second year running. We had made some changes to the track, leading up to the second Indian Grand Prix, but to think that we were able to achieve greater heights than last year, as the recognition signifies, is a testimony to how much more Buddh International Circuit can offer to motor racing.”
